Richard LANE Collection

Richard Lane (19262002) was an American scholar, author, collector, and dealer of Japanese art. In 2003, The Tokyo Museum and the Hawaiian Museum purchased and split his collection in half. In 2009, the Hawaiian Museum hired some experts from Japan, Korea and China in order to sort and organize the acquisition. For a period of time, they separated the master pieces and high quality material for them to keep, from the scholars and less "Museum worthy" material to be sold in bulk on auction. Because of the large amount of material, they never took the time to accession it. The prints and drawings listed below are from the former Richard Lane collection:
